Easy to Make Nourishing Winter Hand Cream

As the winter winds start to nip at our noses and the air becomes drier, our skin often bears the brunt of the season. This is the perfect time to indulge in a little self-care by pampering your skin with a nourishing, homemade body butter. This simple yet luxurious DIY hand cream recipe that will leave your skin feeling silky smooth and deeply moisturized.

Ingredients:

  1. Shea Butter: Shea butter is rich in vitamins and fatty acids, making it an excellent moisturizer for dry skin. It helps to lock in moisture and provides a protective barrier against harsh winter conditions.

  2. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a versatile ingredient with antibacterial and antifungal properties. It easily absorbs into the skin, leaving it soft and supple. Additionally, it adds a subtle tropical aroma to your body butter. *You can also substitute for jojoba oil, calendula or lavender infused oil which have amazing skin healing and moisturizing properties as well!

  3. Essential Oils: Choose your favorite essential oils to add a personalized touch to your hand cream. Lavender, chamomile, and vanilla are great choices for a calming and soothing blend, while peppermint and citrus oils can add a refreshing zing.

This nourishing winter hand cream recipe is easy to make with only 3 ingredients. It smells like a luxurious spa and is extremely moisturizing for dry skin during the long winter months.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Shea butter (Can also substitute mango or cocoa butter)
  • 1/4 cup refined coconut oil, jojoba oil, lavender infused oil or calendula oil
  • 3 drops Vitamin E oil
  • 20 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
  • 8 drops Rosemary essential oil

Instructions

  1. Melt Shea butter and oil in double boiler or by using a Pyrex glass on side of pot of boiling water. **Melt slowly or shea butter will become grainy. Do not boil.
  2. Once almost liquified add Vitamin E oil and stir in.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before adding essential oils. Stir in essential oils and place in refrigerator until solid.
  4. Remove from refrigerator and let rest until slightly room temperature to make it easier to work with.
  5. Whip up with mixer until consistency you desire.

Notes

This recipe makes 5 oz at 1% dilution.

Shelf life is 1 year.

To use: Apply a small amount to hand and gently massage into skin while enjoying the refreshing aroma.
